MEDIA ALERT: Stahl Comes in Under Budget for Ankeny High School Additions
Ankeny, IA; October 27, 2020 – As part of the Ankeny Community School District (CSD) future growth plan, Stahl was hired as construction manager to build two additions, one at Ankeny High School and one at Ankeny Centennial High School. Located in one of the fastest growing cities in the nation, and as the sixth largest district in the state, Ankeny CSD has been working to accommodate the anticipated growth in student enrollment over the next several years.
For the two additions, Stahl executed extensive subcontractor outreach and other cost saving measures for the District to come in at a construction cost of $22.79 million, under the previously expected construction budget of $24 million. The additions will increase both high school’s capacity from 1,400 to 1,860 students. Construction has begun at both Ankeny High School and Ankeny Centennial High School and will be complete in time for the 2021 – 2022 school year.
Stahl has previously worked with the District to build the original 285,000-square-foot Ankeny Centennial High School. The $44 million high school was completed in 2013.
Most recently, Stahl built the new $16.77 million Heritage Elementary School. The District’s 101,403-square-foot, 11th elementary school opened for the 2020 – 2021 school year and has a capacity of up to 750 students ranging from kindergarten through fifth grade.
