Nosing is the edge of a step or stair tread that projects beyond the riser and usually adds a rounded edge to the stair. It improves the safety of a staircase as it provides extra space to place your feet and, typically, additional traction.
The National Safety Council reports that there are over 1,000,000 stair-related accidents every year. Using anti-slip nosing is a proven method of accident prevention.
It’s safety first as the new school year starts again. Over the summer, Stahl installed nosing on staircases within the Elk River Area School District buildings.
