Winter conditions in construction refers to the additive budget lines items and possible schedule delays that are incurred by construction activities during the coldest months of the year. The expenses are usually related to increased fuel, material, and labor needs.

Fun Fact
Frigid winter weather (snow, ice, high winds, below-freezing temperatures) does not stop construction. With pre-planning utilizing these items ground thaw machines, insulated blankets, and anti-freezing concrete components can be offered as solutions to winter conditions. However, a more price effective option would be to complete ground and foundation work before cold temperatures affect the soil.

Stahl was hired as construction manager to is building a new addition at Ankeny Centennial High School. Work at the new addition started in 2020 and is on track to be completed in time for the 2021-2022 school year.
