Stahl Construction Green Projects

Let's look at the green facts. According to a recent EPA study, commercial buildings account for 39% of total energy use, 12% of total water consumption, 68% of total electricity consumption, and 38% of carbon-dioxide emissions. Being environmentally friendly is the "right" thing to do. Is it really that difficult? Does it really cost that much? Can you really afford not to? The answers are no, no, and no. We don't want you to be sad and "blue" down the road because you didn't go "green" when you had the chance.

Anoka County Sheriff's Office    |    new construction

Designed as a sustainable facility, this 139,000-SF Sheriff's Office and Regional Forensic Lab is the first of its kind in Minnesota. It has the capacity to handle fingerprint analysis, drug testing, DNA analysis, and other forensic disciplines.

As a part of Minnesota’s Buildings, Benchmarks & Beyond (B3) Project for sustainability, the facility includes a number of “green” elements. During construction 75% of waste was diverted from landfills, and 50% of packaging material was reused or recycled. Low VOC emitting materials were used for finishes, and recycled materials in the form carpet, furniture and tile were incorporated. Large windows provide natural daylight in 50% of occupied areas, and a building automation system provides thermal comfort.
