Hyatt Place | new construction
Stahl was the design / builder for this 136-room, four-story hotel totaling 97,000 SF. The project was designed and constructed simultaneously with a Residence Inn by Marriott; both are located at Cascade Station near the Portland, Oregon Airport.
Initially, a six-story, concrete block and pre-cast plank building the prototype required in excess of $1 million worth of steel piling, making the project financially unfeasible. Stahl was able to reduce costs by modifying the design, which reduced costs and provided twelve additional rooms.
In addition, 94% of all construction waste was recycled, 20% of the building materials came from within a 500-mile radius of the project site, and actions to reduce construction pollution were taken by controlling soil erosion, waterway sedimentation, and dust generation.
Winner of the Hyatt North America Best Project Award, and Building of America Network Honoree.
