Stahl Construction Educational Projects

Schools come in all shapes and sizes, and different levels from elementary through college, but they all have one thing in common: a drop-dead completion date. Students and staff are waiting to move in and there's nowhere else to go. It has to be done. One lesson we've learned over the years is that the first day on the job is as important to the schedule as the last day. So on that first day we start doing our homework, right through to the end. The result is a quality project finished in plenty of time for the new school year, and an A+ for our efforts.

IHCC's Fine Arts Center    |    addition / renovation

As general contractor, Stahl completed 67,000 SF of additions and renovations to InverHills Community College’s Fine Arts Center. The project includes updates to the 400-seat theater: new sound and acoustic technology, new seats and carpet, upgraded mechanical, electrical and lighting systems, an extension of the overhead catwalk, and a fresh coat of paint. Additions include a four-story entryway onto the building comprised of a glass tower, 18 new art classrooms and offices, a mezzanine art gallery for students to showcase their work, and a 432-car parking lot.

During the bidding process for this project, the documents indicated that the college anticipated construction to last for 24 months. By creatively and efficiently scheduling the project, Stahl was able to condense the schedule to 12 months, which greatly helped the college by giving it access to the new construction 12 months earlier than they initially planned.

The facility and campus remained occupied during construction.
